It?s a price list containing several thousand items. They want us to link all the prices for the next edition. I usually do this when I build a job, via XData. Unfortunately some of the styling is quite complex so I can?t use XData to ?copy and paste back with links?. (attachment proved too big for this list, you?ll have to take my word for it!) It seems to me I have to set up my user interface prefs appropriately (does anyone else find they don?t ?stick? well? - and having to re-launch Quark 7 every time they get ?forgotten? will be a serious time factor, it wasn?t so bad with 6), and then work through, copying the sku code, selecting the price, pasting code into key field and selecting appropriate field. Has anyone found some quicker way that I just haven?t thought of? It?s going to take hours and be very, very boring! On your master page, set up a text box with placeholder text for whichever field that you want to use as a header. Select the placeholder text, and use the Xdata "Make Header/Footer" command to bring up a dialog which will allow you to mark the placeholder as a header, giving you the option to Reference Marks from the Previous Page. In your prototype, you would need to insert a statement setting hidden markers that allow these header placeholders to be updated, e.g., ?put category hidden marked "A"?. See the user's manual for more complete info. Is this what you're after? If not, could you please send your template/prototype and some data, with some more explanation? If you are looking for Headers that will change as your data goes along, that is the way to go. I'm worried about sounding stupid here, but the "instead of the continued price list" has me wondering if you are talking about column headings for the list (Description, Price, etc) that would be the same on each page? When I do long lists of columns, I put the column headers in separate text boxes on the master pages and then run my data into the automatic text boxes placed right below them. That way the column heads show up on each page and you can just let the data pour in. The "continued price list" part is simply where the price list flows uninterrupted to the next page without being separated by a header reminder of the section. ie. where there are 60 items in the "patello casting" section and it splits over two pages, the "patello casting" heading has historically been added after the event to the second page.
